Prom Dress

I made this dress from a picture. I have wanted to make a dress with the scrunched up skirt - so I was really tickled when I saw what my customer wanted.
Her date was at her home when I did the fitting & he wanted his tuxedo tie to to match.
Super fun to do!

This is the outfit I made for my ex-husband. Hand stitched the striped cotton shirt; sewed the pants on my 1895 Singer treadle sewing machine & hand stitched the boots, too. That's me in a borrowed Native American cloth outfit. We were at the 2003 Ft Bridger Rendezvous.
I was actually at the 2nd Ft Bridger rendezvous in 1974 - back when I was primitive camping - living in a tipi - for 5 years... Great stories to tell!
I've also added a last year pic of me on my way to the Blacksmith Fork Canyon Rendezvous near Logan UT. I made my buckskins in '73 - They are elk & deer. I still love to wear them... I love them!

Suzy Zoo rag quilt

Hand stitched linen shirt

OK, so it isn't leather... But I made this for a mountain man. It is hand stitched 100% linen. There was even a crocheted insert in the open part of the front. One of my coworkers is the model.

Elk Coat

This chrome tanned Elk coat was to be a 'fancy, dress up' item for the guy I made it for. I did the bead-work, as well. My nephew modeled for me so I could get the picture.

Leather Armor

There is a group of truly unique folks called the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA). They dress up & do sword-play, in whatever era they choose. This guy wanted an medieval/oriental feel. The arm-guards were molded at the top to prevent being beheaded! All the red (except the hand painted griffin) is lacing - every piece you see required pounding at least 2 holes through the heavy cowhide. The whole set was hand dyed black & buffed.
This was an awesome experience to make!

Brain tanned leather is always white - this deer was commercially tanned - I didn't have the time to do it myself.

White Horse Woman

This is my leather & satin wedding dress. The leather is brain tanned deer. Instead of lace I put red white heart beads over brass sequins fastened with a piece of fringe. I also made the feather accessories. I love this dress!

Wedding dress alterations

When the Bride brought me this dress it had a zipper in the back, spagetti straps - no sleeves at all & was two sizes too small... She wanted the corset fastening. It took some pondering - but it turned out really nicely. Most important, the Bride was very pleased!

Baptism Dress

This sweet dress was a delight to make. My customer brought me the fabric & let me do what I wanted for the details... I dug in my bag of lace & found the perfect piece to cover the entire bodice & the peplum... We all loved the result!

All I did to this was put the two pieces of fleece together & bind the edge (with a fun, decorative stitch). But isn't it cute?

Mother-Daughter Aprins

These Mother-Daughter aprons were made from a 'Retro' pattern. My Mom was a rick-rack queen - so I used one of her tricks to trim them.
The daughter is 1 1/2 years old... So cute!

Denim quilt

My group of friends drew names for Christmas... I got Kristine who wanted a denim quilt... Cool!!
I gathered a huge bag of old jeans & got started... I embroidered, Bedazzled, bleach/tie-dyed...
I had so much fun!! I am gathering more jeans - everyone will get one for their birthday this year - So act surprised!! =o]

Rose Quilt

I made & gave this quilt to my best friend because she loves roses... She has done so much for me & my family for the last 20 years it is the least I could for her.
I have been buying the rose fabric prints for 5 or 6 years... This was so fun to put together for her - I love you Mary Ann!!

Chair back

A friend loves Chevy Belaires...
So when she found this fabric online she asked if I would cover the back of her desk chair...
It was a bit tricky, but turned out really well!
I re-top stitched over the original stitching so the fabric would lay nicely.
There was just enough scraps left to make the little round pillow...
another really fun challenge!

Super Hero

For her grandson, my friend thought a Super Hero shirt & cape was a great idea!

His name starts with "T" - thus the 'Super T'...

I hand painted the words on in washable fabric paints...

I love doing this!!

My friend wanted a 'Dress up' tutu for her granddaughter - this was so much fun!

When they came over to pick it up, the very shy little girl lit up when she saw it! She immediately wanted to put it on & even wore it on there 2 block walk home...

Broacade dress

The fabric in this dress came from the same Oriental country as the blouses below. It is a lightweight 2-tone cream brocade with a sparkly thread running through it - really pretty! My client will be wearing the blouses over it. The dress is also lined.

I got to make these beautiful items from fabric my client got while in Orient. These two shirts turned out so beautifully! the peach is chiffon lined in peach. The green has those lovely leaves & sparkles - love it!

When I took the shirts to her for the fitting, I brought the 3 button choices I'd picked for each blouse & she chose the one she liked.

I also made a peach satin skirt (not shown).

Tooth Fairy Pillow

What fun - A friend from High School - we connected on Facebook - wanted a Tooth Fairy Pillow for her granddaughter...

Her requests were:

the name in cursive (We are so grown up @ 6 years old!), and of course she is a Princess!

Favorite color - pink...

Things like this are totally custom designed. And sooooooo fun to do!!

The Bride

The Bride's gown only needed a few alterations:
take in the bodice
shorten the straps
& shorten skirt about 5" - which of course had to be done at the waist, tapering back into the train. Fun! I love doing this kind of sewing!!
I also added some hooks & thread eyes so she could bustle the train.
I also made the veil.

The wedding was up a canyon here in northern Utah - really beautiful setting; really beautiful day for a lovely Bride!!

Bridesmaids

These are out of satin dusted with silver sparkles - really pretty fabric. The insert is sheer with more silver sparkles.

Robin Hood

Robin Hood, of course goes with Maid Marion - in my project in the BYU student designed fashion show.

His hunter green jerkin is made from green dyed split cow hide - all hand sewn.

His shirt is hand dyed & stitched linen. The linen leggings are hand stitched. I made the hat & shoes also.

For the fashion show Robin carried a long bow & a quiver of arrows.

Maid Marion

The dress is totally hand stitched & dyed. The hem has over 400 inches in it!

The leather jerkin/vest is hand quilted to felt and laces on one side.

I even made the jewelry.
This was part of my project in the BYU student designer fashion show entitled Legendary Leather.

Rodeo Show Shirt
